WITH
Alaska Statutes: 41.35.010, 020
This statute covers artifacts and fossils from
Alaskan State Lands, including tidelands and
submerged lands (out to 3 miles). For federal lands
(including Native Allotments
but not Native Corporation
land) the Archaeological Resources
Protection Act (ARPA) would apply.
These artifacts were collected prior to the 1950's
or from Native Corporation
Lands (private lands) located on St. Lawrence Island
and Mainland Alaska and are exempt from the above
statutes
The
Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act passed the United
States Congress and was signed by President Nixon on
December 18, 1971. This Act settled land ownership
disputes between the U.S. and State governments and the
aboriginal owners.
